Artist Statement

The more I mature as an artist the more I believe that artists are born with their own batch of images imprinted somewhere in their brains.  For me the same shapes are expressed over and over, albeit in widely ranging materials and back and forth between two and three dimensions.  Whether it’s wood, rubber, Duralar, Styrofoam, paper or canvas, the same images are repeated.  I’m still shocked when I finish a piece to recognize that it is the most recent reincarnation of something I have done before.

My images are always abstract with the meaning changing with the progression of time.  Round shapes predominate and the notion of “coming full circle”  sticks in my mind. The content seems to follow the different stages of my life and helps me to understand where I am in the world.  Right now and for a long time the work has been about connections and relationships.
